Tattoo Mistake #5: Improper (or no) protection from the sun...

Proper skin protection from the sun's damaging UV rays pose serious long term risks to your skin and health.

Many people know that repeated exposure to UV, whether through tanning salons or the beach, can age and wrinkle your skin and even cause skin cancer.

We all know that covering up with a proper SPF lotion is vital before spending time in the sun, but did you know that if you don't, you risk destroying your tattoo along with your skin?

UV will break up the pigments in your skin, fading them and allowing your body's immune system to metabolize them.  Not only does sunscreen make perfect health sense, but it's vital to protecting your investment in any body art. This is especially important in the months after getting a tattoo, but it should also become a lifelong practice.

We've all seen the aging baby boomers with faded and distorted tattoos.  Don't become one of them, cover that tattoo (and any exposed skin) with a high SPF sunscreen and you'll enjoy brilliant ink for decades to come.
